Results of the first round in the presidential elections at municipality level

This map is inspired by the election map of 'Le Monde' and uses the same colors.

Starting from this map I created some variants with dynamic opacity and different color scheme.

Showing the advantage of the candidate

The intensity represents the percentage of the winning candidate of the municipality

Showing the density of people entitled to vote

Total of people entitled to vote per km2

Divergent and compose color

Concentrating only on candidates with a result of more than 20% we can choose a color palette which is near to the CMY colors used for printing.

Doing this gives us the possibility to create a compose color which represents the sum of the votes of these 3 candidates for every municipality.

Subtractive color mixing

In this final map the color is created by subtractive color mixing of the 3 colors of the leading candidates

weighted by the percentage of every candidate in the respective municipality.

The intensity is calculated by the density of the people entitled to vote.
